Escape Velocity: Override is a ringing triumph of sci-fi action-adventure. The game puts you in a spaceship cockpit as a daring, swashbuckling, Han Solo type. You start with a lousy shuttlecraft, some seed money, an enormous galaxy to explore — and nearly unlimited freedom to explore as you like, trying to make money and improve your ship and your social standing. Sure, you can be an honorable merchant or cozy up to one of the powerful interstellar governments. But you can also chuck it all and play evil space pirate.
