What is Escape Velocity?

Escape Velocity is a space action game for Mac. In Escape Velocity, you play as a spaceship captain trying to build your empire in a booming galaxy full of surprises, pirates, civil wars and more. Escape Velocity has an open ended world that counts more than 100 worlds with different technologies, trading properties and commodities. You will need more than a little luck to make a profit... Welcome to life in the 23rd century!

Escape Velocity combines space combat, interstellar trade, and a good confederacy-versus-rebels story line complete with nearly invincible aliens. Players fly a ship on trade missions, making credits while exploring a region of colonized space. You encounter pirates, secret weapons stations, and mysterious and powerful alien invaders. The cool part about this game is its open-ended nature. You can choose to be a confederate, a rebel, a pirate, or a freebooter, and you choose this by your actions. Start attacking confederate ships and accepting rebel missions, and you become a de facto rebel. Escape Velocity’s plug-in architecture allows you to add new missions, ships, and a whole new look to the game, so it’s difficult to get bored.
