Internet Config was a nice little public domain utility that let System 7 users configure every little bit of their internet applications all in one place. With Internet Config, one could set their homepage URL, chat nickname, newsgroup credentials, file mappings, firewall settings, etc...
The single bluest pain in the butt about getting the most out of the Internet has to be configuring all your Net applications. How many times can you type your SMTP account without snapping like a dry twig? InternetConfig is one of those head-slappers that seems obvious in retrospect. With it, you enter your Internet configuration information only once. It handles email, FTP, newsgroup, and Web information, and also more obscure settings such as Telnet, Gopher, WAIS, and helper applications. Other applications then can take advantage of that saved information, saving you the trouble of re-entering all those server names and passwords.
