UUNET Technologies MacPak is a 1995 collection of hand picked shareware and Apple licensed utilities to help users get the most out of their UUNET Internet account.
Below is a list of major programs provided in the MacPak and a quick description of their intended use.
- Added to System Folder:
- Config PPP: Control Panel for creating PPP connection
- PPP: System Extension allowing Mac to create PPP connection
- MacTCP: TCP/IP Stack which allows the Macintosh to send packets of information across the internet.
- Added to Apple Menu:
- MacTCP Watcher: Used to test connection to specific sites using pings (echo requests to remote machines)
- Network Applications:
- Anarchie: An Archie client
- Eudora 1.4.3: Used to check your POP mailbox
- Fetch 2.1.2: Used to transfer files over the net via FTP
- HotList sorter 10b3
- NCSA Mosaic 200A17.68k: Used to browse the world wide web (www)
- Newswatcher: Used to read news on alterdial.uu.net
- NCSA Telnet 2.6: used to remote login on a host on the Internet using the telnet protocol.
- Turbo Gopher 2.0b2: Used to access gopher servers

- GIFConverter 2.3.7: Used by Mosaic for GIF files
- GraphicConverter 2.0 (US): Used by Mosaic for other graphics files
- JPEGView 3.3: Used by Mosaic for JPEG files
- QuickTime Movies:
- Fast Player: Used by Mosaic for QuickTime movies
- Sparkle 2.2.0: Used by Mosaic for MPEG movies
- Sounds:
- Sound Machine 2.1: Used by Mosaic for sound files
- Text Viewers:
- AcroRead.mac: Installs Adobe Acrobat text reader. Used by mosaic for text viewing
- Common Ground MiniViewer: Used to read Mosaic manual
- Compress/Decompress: (used for many popular compression formats)
- DropStuff w/ Expander Enhancer
- StuffIt Expander
- UUUndo
- Network Utilities:
- Finger-1.5.0: Used to finger (get info) about another net user
- MacTCP Switcher: Used to save and recall multiple configurations for MacTCP
- Query it!: Used to lookup A, MX, and HINFO records at user-specified Domain Name Servers
