Apple really came into their stride with MacOS 9. This operating system set the foundation for what MacOS would become moving into the future; some features that were introduced in MacOS 9 include Apple's own internet search software Sherlock 2, a software suite called iTools (also known as .Mac and later, MobileMe), automatic software updates and the ability to create multiple user accounts.
MacOS 9 lived on past its EOL as the "Classic Environment" within MacOS X
