What is TechTool 1.x?

As far as focused utilities go, not much comes close to the capabilities of TechTool. This program only does a couple of things, but it does them exceedingly well. With TechTool, you can rebuild your desktop, zap your parameter RAM (PRAM), dean your floppy drive, and check your System. TechTool takes a different, more complete, approach to desktop rebuilding by deleting the desktop database and then forcing the Finder to rebuild this database from scratch. Similarly, TechTool zaps all of your Mac’s PRAM, and not just the upper 64 bytes of PRAM that Apple’s key combination zaps. By doing these two jobs well, TechTool has earned a place in many a troubleshooter’s heart.
