What is Sqix!? Sqix! is a color QIX clone for Mac made in Montréal, Canada. Sqix, just like the original QIX game, is a classic arcade game where a radar wave is randomly shrinking or growing and constantly bouncing off the screen bounds (or added surfaces). You're playing a constantly moving dot that roams along the screen edges. In Sqix, the goal of the game is to control your dot to draw additional screen surfaces without getting touched or interrupted by the radar, that is if it touches your line before it becomes a closed shape. The player has to fill in as much of the screen surface as possible, e.g.: 60% in order to advance to the next level. Quick tip in order to play: If you feel like you cannot start a new line on the screen, make sure you press and hold the direction key you want to go and then, while you're still holding that direction key, also press down SHIFT key and once the line starts to draw you can release SHIFT. This took me a few minutes to find out :P You can also customize your keys in the "Game" menu in the menubar. See also the sequel from the same author: Sparkz
Download Sqix! for Mac
From Mac OS 7.0 up to Mac OS 9.2 Architecture: 68K Mac OS 7.0 - Mac OS 9.2.2 Note: Could not get sounds to work at all under Mac OS 7.5 nor Mac OS 9.2.2 but I could hear sounds when running this under Mac OS 6.0.8 altough it crashes immediately after pressing the splash window button. Game definitely requires and plays very well on Mac OS 7.0 or higher but there will be no sound :-(
