  • Main interface
  • Export to TSV

What is DirList?

DirList is a quick and dirty recursive folder lister.  Drag a folder on the app and it will instantly make a list of all the files and folders inside of it, recursively.

For every file, it will also list its:

  • DATA fork size
  • RSRC fork size
  • Locked attribute
  • Mac type code
  • Mac creator code

More to come later, if anybody needs more from this app.

Change Log

Version 0.05 (2025-02-27)

  • Replaced the text box output with a calc style grid with sortable column headers.
  • Users can select one or multiple lines and delete them by hitting the delete or backspace key.
  • What you see in the app is what you get once you export to TSV (same rows, in same order).
  • Added CreationTime and ModificationTime columns.  Note: Those are aligned with system's time zone.
  • Fixed slightly incorrectly displayed subfolder file name level indentation.
  • Disabled the Export to TSV button until a folder has been dragged into the window to prevent a crash.

Version 0.04 (2025-02-26)

  • Added an IsFolder column to explicitely tell if a filename refers to a file or a folder.
  • Removed the ":" after folder names in the list, thanks to the previous point.
  • Output text box is now read only to prevent accidental keystrokes.
  • For clarity, the Export to TSV button now asks you to save a .tsv file instead of a .csv file.

Version 0.03 (2025-02-26)

  • Added an Export to TSV button which produces tab separated values file for Excel or LibreOffice.

Version 0.02 (2025-02-26)

  • Added a "CMD-A / Select All" command to easily copy the whole output text (duh)
  • Users can now define what string is used to indent the subfolder levels to the output text
  • Users can now choose to append null attributes to the output text or not
  • Fields in the output text are now TSV (tab separated values) to allow importing them to Excel
  • Now lists Mac type and creator codes.

Version 0.01 (2025-02-26)

  • Initial release.
  • Lists DATA fork size, RSRC fork size, locked attribute.
