What is Apple's SharedInfoServer? SharedInfoServer (early push technology from Apple) This package contains a technology release of SharedInfoServer. The Shared Info Server (SIS) is a service that provides a simple object database model designed to contain dynamic, ephemeral information. The server informs interested clients of changes to database values for which they previously registered. SIS provides a unique platform for prototyping awareness and other groupware applications on the Macintosh by providing easy-to-use push technology for both AppleScript and Java clients.
The release is a 1 MB self-extracting, binhex archive consisting of the following items: SharedInfoServer - a fat application Simple SIS Applet - a simple Java applet for displaying values from the SIS SIS AppleScript Tutorial - a collection of three AppleScript applications that initialize, read, and write the SIS SIS Java Support - a collection of Java sources that help you write applets and applications that talk to the SIS SISLibrary.zip - a compiled version of the SIS Java Support Library, ready for use
