What is Apple Open Collaboration Environment (AOCE)?

Apple Open Collaboration Environment (or simply "AOCE") was Apple's initiative to develop a network environment for end user consumers, notably PowerTalk, PowerShare and Open Directory.  It was a complex project which overwhelmed many developpers.  Also, due to high hardware requirements that end users often did not have in mid 1990's, the users base was too small to be profitable and never really took off, so Apple quietly abandoned it in 1996.

This last general seeding beta CD includes all the tools/utilities, installers, documentation and sample code that was distributed to developers in July, 1993.
