What is OPENSTEP 4.2?

OPENSTEP is the succesor of NeXTSTEP and predecesor of Mac OS X. Released by Steve Jobs shortly before NeXT, Inc. was bought by Apple, Inc.

Compatibility notes

Default display mode monochrome vga only. Patch 4 contains VESA drivers.

Compatible emulator is VirtualBox

Set virtual HDD and virtual CD to SCSI controller and set controller chipset to buslogic. The IDE drivers in OpenSTEP are unreliable.

Set the virtual NIC to AMD PCNET.

Emulating this? It could probably run under: Basilisk II
