This interactive exploration of the ancient Maya culture is the second in a series of CD-ROM reference works on the world's ancient civilizations from Sumeria, the San Francisco–based multimedia publisher. This volume covers the ancient Maya civilization of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize, spanning the period from 2000 B.C. to A.D. 1500.
Exploring the Lost Maya is the most complete history of the ancient Maya available on CD-ROM. Based on original photography and video taken at 40 different archaeological sites, the title covers the history, cultural achievements, and ultimate demise of the ancient Maya people. All of the pictures, text, and movies in this CD-ROM can be easily exported to a hard disk and may be reused for all noncommercial applications.
In addition to 800 full-screen photographs, Exploring the Lost Maya contains a historical reference written by leading Maya scholar Robert Sharer, Ph.D.; interactive maps of major Maya sites; 19th-century lithographs and historical photos; an interactive multimedia timeline of Maya history; movies on several facets of Maya culture; travel information for those planning to visit the sites; and much more.
