Reading SEARCH is a lively animated program featuring an interactive reading comprehension curriculum. The Board of Directors of SEARCH, the Society to Explore and Archive Really Cool History, recruit players to serve as field agents who will travel back in time to a Mayan town, a Tlingit village, and a palace in China during the Tang dynasty in a search for forgotten folk tales. Using their reading and cognitive knowledge to aid them in their journey, students piece together over 60 authentic folk tales while building skills in vocabulary, plot, setting, characterization, and meaning and ideas. Reading SEARCH features over 60 reading comprehension activities for students and customizing and progress tracking tools for parents and teachers.
Features include an interactive reading curriculum prepared for grade levels 2 through 6, over 60 authentic folk tales from three unique cultures, over 60 activities to provide a variable and interactive reading experience. Engaging story lines include fun graphics, sound, and animation. Parents or teachers can track students individually to monitor progress or areas of difficulty/mastery, and view or print detailed progress reports. The curriculum includes vocabulary, definitions and meaning in context, synonyms and antonyms, parts of speech , plot elements, sequencing, rising action , cause and effect, setting, descriptive words, sensory words, characterization , summarizing, comparing and contrasting, point of view, meaning and ideas, outlining, making assumptions, identifying symbols, and conflict and resolution.
