What is MacOS 8.5 / 8.5.1 for Power Macintosh G3 (1998) [PROVENANCE TO BE VERIFIED]?

An ISO file of the official Blue and White Power Macintosh G3 8.5 / 8.5.1 MacOS installer CDROM.

This CDROM has a green label titled "Power Macintosh G3, Software Install or Restore, version 8.5.1, CD version 1.0" along with a photograph of the top curved handle of a Blue and White G3.

The intsallation instructions document on this CD suggests it can also used on computers besides the B&W G3 such as the 6100, 7100, 8100, 9150. (Possibly other Macs as well. I can ascertain that it definitely works on the B&W G3.)

According to the text, 5000 ad 6000 series Macs (5200, 5300, 6200, 6300) should use this installer unless a hardware problem is resolved first. See text for more.

For PPC only; no 68k machines.

After installing 8.5 / 8.5.1 you can then run the MacOS 8.6 updater if you like.
