Byte Me! was a fun game with colourful, nicely animated OpenGL graphics. Cute sounds completed the first impression, where you could run your own music (that you've just downloaded from Napster) in the background.
The gameplay was simple, yet not without some challenges, even for a seasoned player. The AI was strong enough, but with the right tactics chances were high to win. It was also possible to play multiplayer via internet, LAN or just sharing the mouse.
The objective was to "byte" other players' nodes either by lining up your nodes next to their nodes and bite them off or surrounding their nodes with your color and thus taking them over. Once you had taken over the board with your color, you've won the game.
It's notable that the developers cared a lot even for small details.
