Mac Restart allows you to restart your Mac automatically at a prefixed time. This is a requested job for Mac servers which run continuously and after some time... can have troubles, you know. Restarting regularly guarantees a correct functioning of the system. After months of continuous work on different servers around the world, Mac Restart can be considered now a reliable utility to improve efficiency of critical Macintosh servers.
Mac Restart allows you to select the time/day when automatically restarts your Mac and which method to use between 'Soft Restart' and 'Hard Restart'. The 'Soft Restart' is quite polite and will quit all your active applications via AppleEvent before restarting as if you use the 'Restart' command in the Finder. The 'Hard Restart' is instead quite 'brutal'. It restarts your Mac without advising your running applications. The Mac Restart window reports when your Mac is restarted and using which method.
When it is in the background it changes its time requested to the CPU to run, this not to hog your Mac and leave to your server all the power it needs to carry its work. You need to set only one time the settings, Mac Restart will save them in the preferences, and will restart your Mac as you chose without need for successive manual configurations A flashing black dot on the right will inform the user that the computer is going to restart. The dot will start to flash an amount of time before the restart as indicated by the user. If Mac Restart is in the background it will use Notification Manager, flashing in the right of the menu bar, to inform that restart is coming.
New from version 2.1.0. The status window can be closed. If restart time is approaching the status window it's automatically opened.
