What is F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0?

F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0 is a classic Microprose flight sim, sequel to F-19 Stealth Fighter (never released for the Mac). The flight model isn't as realistic as A-10 Attack! or F/A-18 Hornet but then F-117A is a different experience. The aim isn't to dominate the sky, but to sneak in undetected, complete your mission and sneak out again without ever being detected. To do so flights will be low and slow with one eye on the radar return displays as you get 'painted' by ground based and airbourne radars. Flightpaths will change mid mission as you plot a course to 'thread the needle' between pulse and doppler radars or avoid roving enemy fighter patrols.

Missions are varied, you may be shooting down a terrorist leaders transport, performing photo recon of a startegic target or striking a wide varietyy targets, from SAM radars, strategic locations, ships to sub-pens. To help you complete your mission there's a huge variety of ordanance to choose from, air-to-air, anti-ship, air-to-ground misssles, iron bombs in dumb and laser guided varities,,even a camera for those photo recon missions! Missions take place around the world including the Persian Gulf, Libya, the Middle Easst, the North Cape, Central Europe, Desert Storm, Cuba, Vietnam and Korea.

Difficulty can be tweaked in a variety of ways, frrom easy/realistic landingss to the state of hosities, cold war, limited war or conventional war. You can also choose between an authentic F-117A (less weapons, more stealthy) or the F-19 (more weapons, less stealthy). Your career will stretch over 99 missions before you're retired to 'fly a desk'. During your career you can rise through the ranks and recieve medals for a particularly good mission performance.
