The world's funkiest freeware
Internet bookmarker for the Macintosh.
what is it?!___________________
The Internet hasn't changed much since it started -- to get things done, you need an array of different applications. But keeping your URLs consistent with all these different applications proved difficult. Clearly, there should be a program just for URLs, which would "talk" to whichever application you wanted it to. That's when what URL?! showed up.
what URL?! started its life to do only two things, and do them as well as it could: drag-and-drop accept, and launch URLs.
Within Netscape bookmarks, your ftp:, news:, and mailto: links all stay within Netscape. What if you wanted to send that mailto: to Eudora? or that news: to Newswatcher? or that ftp: to Anarchie? With what URL?!, this is possible. Not only that, but with what URL?!, you get a more intuitive interface and a richer environment than Netscape.
Since then, it has grown considerably. And in every step, we've thought "What can we add to this to make it a better URL launcher, without bloating it with excess features?"
In 1.0, it's scriptability.
Scripting allows what URL?! not only to be used in yet untold ways with current scriptable applications, but it allows it to be used with ones that don't even exist yet. Nifty, eh? And we've included just a sample of what's possible...
