What is Flipper?

Your goal is to make all the rectangles in the grid the same, either the same pattern in black and white, or the same color on color machines.  You change colors or patterns by clicking in the rectangle.

Sound easy?

Well, it's a little more challenging than that.
First, Flipper just won't leave things alone.  At some random time  Flipper will flip boxes from the current color to the next color, messing up all your planning.
Second, it gets tougher as you go.  There will be more spaces in the grid, and more colors or patterns in the sequence (up to 30 colors).
Third, the time that Flipper waits before changing colors also gets shorter as levels increase.
And fourth, you only have 300 seconds (5 minutes) to complete each level.

You have some weapons of your own, though.

You can freeze the current color or pattern of any square by holding down the option key when you click on a rectangle.  The border of that rectangle will then flash, showing you it's frozen.

When a rectangle is frozen, Flipper cannot change it's color or pattern.  But neither can you, so be sure it's the color  you want.

You unfreeze a rectangle the same way you froze it, by clicking with the option key held down.
You  have a limited amount of freezes to use (shown at the bottom of the window), be careful with them.

Another aid is the Progression box along the bottom of the grid. When you select 'See Progression' from the Game menu,  the Progression box will show you the order of the patterns or colors for the current level.  See the note under Scoring for a caution about this!
