What is Omikron Basic? Omikron Basic was originally developed for the Atari ST computers. It was not until version 6 that it became available for PowerPC-based Macs. The development environment provides a multi-window text editor, an integrated debugger, and an compiler that generates optimized PowerPC code. Some of the features supported by various included libraries include the ability to create a graphical environment, use complex numbers and mathematical functions, perform Fourier transforms, solve differential equations, and work with regressions. While Omikron Basic is not able to compile code from other BASIC environments as is, there are reports that it is not overly difficult to move code from the Atari ST versions of Omikron Basic or Microsoft's MBASIC to Omikron Basic 6 or later. While it may require more effort, code from GFA-Basic and Microsoft QuickBASIC can also be migrated to Omikron Basic. Download Omikron Basic for Mac
