What is LiveUpdate Crescendo 2.0?

The "Netscape for Macintosh" version of the most popular browser plugin for allowing embed tags to play MIDI files in the 90s and early 2000s.

While technically called simply "Crescendo", it was commonplace to include the company name, as in the title tag of the included "Crescendo Test.html", to the point where many people thought of it as an official part of the product's name.

Given that the base version was a free download, I can only assume the "Thank you for purchasing" part of the test page is because it was shared with Crescendo PLUS and Crescendo MAX.

This version of Crescendo requires the following:

    Sytem 7.1 or later
    Quicktime 2.1 or later
    Netscape Navigator, version 2.0 or greater

Tested to work successfully in Netscape Navigator 2.0b6a, 3.04, 4.08 and Netscape Communicator 4.8, though not thoroughly enough to rule out incompatibilities which may surface outside the included "Crescendo Test.html" file.

(However, given that the Wayback Machine archive of their site continued to list the same 2.0 version for macs while the PC version climbed up to version 5, it's reasonable to guess no bugfix releases were needed.)
