Disney's Animated Storybook: Pocahontas is a children's game based on the 1995 Walt Disney Animation Studios film of the same name. It tells a fictionalized account of a Native American woman and the Englishman John Smith during the colonization period of the Americas. In this game the players get to experience the story as an animated storybook where Pocahontas is accompanied by her friends Flit the hummingbird and Meeko the Raccoon. It contains sixteen story screens with many clickable elements that encourage exploration. The story is narrated by Grandmother Willow and also features four mini-games. During the narration the sentence that is being read is highlighted so children can follow along through the text as well.
In the first mini-game hoops need to be shot using bow and arrow. In the second game the player needs to help Flit catch the berries that Meeko picks before he has a chance to eats them. In the third game you need to help Percy find Meeko who has hidden aboard a ship. Players click the different possible hiding spots until he is found. In the fourth game a forest scenery is shown. On the right are pictures of animals such as a frog, a fish or a bird. Players click the pictures to listen what sound they make and then choose one of the possible spots in the forests such as the water or a tree where that animal is most likely to live.
There are three difficulty levels for the mini-games that can be changed in-game by choosing one to three feathers near the bottom of the screen. Arrows are used to move between the story pages. It is possible to go to the game right away in the middle of story using an icon. While the story is narrated players can click the dictionary near the bottom of the screen. Difficult words will light up and players can then click then to learn what they mean. Next to English the game is fully localized in Spanish and it is possible to switch between the languages at any moment.
