What is HFS Backup 3.0? HFS Backup 3.0 is a disk backup utility published by PCPC (Personal Computer Peripherals Corp.) in 1988. It can perform full or incremental backups to floppy disks or mounted volumes, and even has a scheduler for automated backups. Also included is Restore 1.00, an alternative application for restoring from backup disks when the Backup Directory created by HFS Backup is unreadable. HFS Backup isn't new to these pages, butthe latest version (3.0) is significantly different from previous ones. HFS Backup now has the most complete feature set that I've seen in any backup program, with everything from a virus checker to partial imaging capabilities. The only thing it can't do is back up to removable-cartridge drives. Not only is HFS Backup powerful—and noticeably faster than its competitor Redux—but it also works with 512KEs as well as with all later machines. This is definitely a top-class backup program. System Requirements From Mac OS 4.1 up to Mac OS 9.2 Runs fine on System 6.0.8 in Mini vMac but crashes or freezes on System 7. It does work on System 7 in Basilisk II. Emulating this? It could probably run under: Mini vMac |
