What is BBEdit 4.5? "With the release of version 4.5, BBEdit becomes the first MacOS text editor to support MacOS 8 Contextual Menus. In addition, BBEdit 4.5 offers new global backup facilities and enhanced Perl 5 support through more extensive syntax-coloring. Version 4.5 also offers numerous user-interface and usability enhancements, including the ability to store 'grep' patterns in a more flexible fashion than before. BBEdit 4.5 will also ship with a revised (printed) user manual. Perhaps the most exciting new addition to BBEdit's functionality is BBEdit's new Table Builder. This innovative tool enables users to generate HTML tables in a graphical environment quickly and easily. Web authors will find that creating and editing even complex nested tables is convenient and efficient from within Table Builder. This tool offers an excellent implementation of graphical control over the sizing and re-sizing of cells and options for cell-merging, cell color selection and more, giving the user maximum design flexibility. On top of its graphical abilities, the BBEdit Table Builder is integrated with BBEdit itself, putting forth the most powerful and robust solution available for Web authors who wish to combine the convenience of a graphical approach with the ability to fine-tune their HTML. Aside from the addition of Table Builder, BBEdit's core HTML tools have been updated and enhanced. Along with numerous functional and interface refinements, the new tools feature the ability to control HTML authoring preferences via Frontier, AppleScript, and other OSA-compatible scripting environments. This feature provides flexibility which is necessary for professional Web authors, who routinely need to manage multiple Web sites." - Bare Bones Software, Inc. (1997).
