What is Command & Conquer: Y.A.C.A.C.E.? Y.A.C.A.C.E. (short for Yet Another Command And Conquer Editor), is a rudimentary terrain editor developed for the Macintosh edition of Command & Conquer, Mac C&C. Technically an alpha release of the program, YACACE never saw further development, though it was used with some success (in conjunction with C&C Edit) to create custom mission files for Mac C&C prior to the release of the Command & Conquer Mission Editor (CCME). Y.A.C.A.C.E. is very primitive in design and ability, and can only edit a mission file's terrain. It is incapable of generating a new mission file from scratch, and requires that one open a mission file that has already been extracted from the game using C&C Edit or by some other means. The basic interface is point-and-click, but terrain tile objects are selected one at a time from a numbered drop-down menu rather than displayed in a continuous list. From Mac OS 7.5 up to Mac OS 9.2 YACACE requires that the following gameplay files be copied over from one of the game discs into the application directory in order to run: DESERT.MIX, TEMPERAT.MIX, & WINTER.MIX (about 1.5MB total). These files are not included for download.
