What is Exile III: Ruined World?

Exile III: Ruined World sees you lead a party of adventurers from Exile (a world of underground caverns) in their quest of re-emergence onto the surface of the world. Expecting a serine land of sunshine, warm breezes and delightful foliage, it comes to the adventurers as somewhat of a surprise to find a world enveloped in chaos.

This old-school RPG was a shareware hit in 1997 for Spiderweb Software, who crafted a vast world with a considerable amount to do. This is one of the Mac's finest RPGs and was remade, not once, but twice, as Avernum 3, and Avernum 3: Ruined World.
