the @whatever.com in your email address.), your email password, and the POP3 server address (like mail.stimpsoft.com). Then hit the "Frog" button to check that account for new mail. Optionally, you can disable each account in the list to skip checking those accounts. If there is new mail, the light to the left of the name will be green, and the number of emails will be next to the name. If there was some kind of error, the light will be red.
To disable an account, highlight the account in the list and then choose "Disable Account" under the edit menu, or option click on the account in the list. Disabled accounts have blue icons next to them.
You can also choose to have frogslapper download the email info, such as sender, subject, date and email. This option can be turned off in the Preferences Panel if you want to make frogslapper a little faster. To see the info on an email, press the triangle next to the account light. A list of all the emails will then "drop down". To see more info on a particular one, choose "Show Info" from the "File" menu.
In Mac OS X, the dock icon will now show the grand total of all emails on all accounts.
FAQ:
The light next to one of my accounts is Red. How do I know what error occurred?
Click on the triangle to the left of the red light, and the menu will "drop down" to show you the account error.
How do I delete an account?
Accounts can be edited, added and deleted from the Preferences Panel, under Accounts. You cannot open the preferences panel while frogslapper is checking accounts.
How do I edit an account?
Either press choose an account in the list and then choose "Edit Account" from the "Edit" menu, or use the Accounts tab in the preferences panel.
Can I check my Hotmail accounts?
No. I do not have plans to add this feature, either.
Can it tell me who sent these new emails, or what the subject is?
Yes. See above.
Why can't I delete emails on the server with this app?
Because. That's why.
Why is this app called "frogslapper"?
Because it slaps frogs. Check "Slap Frogs" in the settings window to see (must be in OS X)
Changes:
- Version 2.1.1: Password encryption removed until further notice. This is in response to the bug that would cause passwords to be deleted.
- Version 2.0: Total rewrite. App can check all accounts at the same time, show email info, etc.
- Version 1.3.4: The only change is the timeout setting. This has been doubled.
- Version 1.3.3: makes minor performance improvements.
- Version 1.3.2: only makes the interface more "standard" when the window is not active. Nothin else. I'm obsessive.
- Version 1.3.1: You should now be able to check for mail immediately after connecting to the internet
- Version 1.3: Adds the nefarious "Stop" button so conspicuously absent from earlier versions, and some minor bug fixes.
- Version 1.2: fixes a bug causing corruption of the Accounts file, leading to invalid passwords.
