Thomas Bräunl offers the data-parallel programming system Parallaxis as public domain software. According to Bräunl, the Parallaxis model for structured programming of SIMD computers states that each parallel program contains, in addition to the original procedural algorithm, a functional description of the requested processor interconnection topology. This reportedly results in parallel programs that are machine independent.
The Parallaxis system consists of a compiler and a simulator. It is currently available for the Apollo DN3000, Sun-3, Sun-4, Sparcstation, IBM AT, and Apple Macintosh.
