What is SimTower: The Vertical Empire?

Sim Tower is Yoot Saito's first tower simulator game, which was published by Maxis in the mid 90's along with all the other Sim games such as Sim City, Sim Farm, etc... and as such, it has this not too complicated interface that lets you quickly pick up the learning curve and get to build and manage your tower without failing too much the first times.  In Sim Tower, you begin with virgin grounds on which you build your first floor, which has to be a lobby.  From there, it's yours to decide how tall and wide you build your tower.  You can go up to a hundred floors and 8 underground floors too.

The goal in Sim Tower is to collect 5 stars rating by keeping your elevators efficient, your condominiums quiet, your offices busy, your hotel rooms clean of bugs, etc... There are special rooms you can build when you get enough population and star ratings such as a cinema and even a cathedral... but a couple things could go wrong along the way, so it's wise to concentrate on keeping things together rather than building up too quickly.
