Does the world need yet another object-oriented drawing program? if the program does something special, the answer is yes. Paradigm is such a program. It adds relational drawing abilities to the basic drawing package. In an ordinary drawing program, moving a selected point causes all the other points to move with it in a one-to-one relationship. In Paradigm, all points that connect to, or depend on, the selected point have their positions recalculated according to user-specified equations. It's quite simple to create drawings that appear to rotate in three dimensions as a single point is moved about on the plane by setting an amount of proportional movement.
Paradigm rated strictly as a drawing program wouldn't rate well. The controls are more difficult to figure out than they need to be, and the range of features, other than relational drawing, is ho-hum. The relational-drawing abilities are valuable, however. On a Mac IIcx, performance is quite acceptable, although it might be slow on other machines. If your work involves drawings that must be frequently updated or that have objects whose position or size is time-dependent or relates nonlinearly to other objects. Paradigm will be a real time- and effort- saver and is worth investigating.
