What is Sapristi? Sapristi was Univers Mac proprietary file distribution BBS service that ran in France from the early to late 1990's. It was more or less like a huge FTP archive of all French Macintosh sharewares, freewares and demos that were also released on their monthly Univers Mac magazine CD. The Sapristi app would directly connect to their BBS server using your phone line modem, so I guess they would charge you by the minute, by the kilobyte or something like that. You could browse and download Mac files (apps, games, multimedia, etc...) off their server. Sapristi was made obsolete in the late 1990's (definitely some time after summer 1998) when most websites began serving Mac files. Obviously, Sapristi is archived here only for historical purposes, but it is 100% obsolete. In the .sit archive, you'll also find 2 QuickTime movies from 1995 showing off Sapristi connecting and downloading files... an incredible time travel!
