What is Fractal 1.x? Fractal is an easy to use program that (very slow) renders a 3D scene with a mountain and a lake according to a very wide variety of parameters. You can use 3 different noise algorithms, camera offset, zoom, fog density and color, complete illumination control, soil color gradient, water color, wave height and so on. All of these parameters need to be entered manually as numbers. There is no GUI to move the camera or anything like that, but you can save your scene parameters to a file to render that scene later and Fractal also allows for scripting which enables you to create a QuickTime movie animation (or multiple PICT files) over night... because yes, it's gonna take a LONG time to render!
