What is ROM Organizer?

ROM Organizer is a new ROM sorting utility for Mac OS X.

It has been designed to be extensible via a plugin architecture. The present version supports over 22,000 different ROMs for 21 different systems, in a disk space footprint of only a little over 1MB.

ROM Organizer has the following features:

• The ability to display the information embedded in the ROM - or if none is present, to display information about the ROM taken from an internal database in the programs.
• The ability to rename the ROM to its correct name according to a set list of criteria.
• The ability to save the ROM's information to the finder comment field.
• The ability to save a list of ROMs.
• The ability to change the file's Type and Creator to popular emulators.
• The ability to compress ROMs using gzip, which can be decompressed transparently by many popular emulators.
• Many other features.
