What is True BASIC 2.5? True BASIC was based on work towards the creation of ANSI Standard BASIC, which is an offshoot of Dartmouth BASIC, the original BASIC. So, True BASIC was an advancement of the BASIC language, unlike many early versions of Microsoft BASIC, which were based off the original Dartmouth BASIC. While True BASIC was eventually capable of working with GUI objects, versions prior to 5.0 do not have that capability. One advantage it did have was any code written in True BASIC were able to be compiled without modification by True BASIC on other platforms, including MS-DOS, UNIX, Amiga, and Atari ST. This was not very common at the time. Download True BASIC 2.5 for Mac
