What is Coela?

Coelaとは

• カラムリスト表示のファイルシステムブラウザです。「しいら」と読みます。
• カラムリスト表示のブラウザとしては Greg's Browserがありますが、これは古いアプリケーションのため、簡略化したアイコン表示のみですし、Unicodeファイル名等 HFS+の機能も全く利用していません。MacOS X上では Classic環境でしか動作しません。HFS+に対応し、MacOS X上でも動作するファイル操作アプリケーションが必要になったため、自分で作りました。

Coelaの特徴

• カラムリスト表示で軽快にファイルシステムを参照 / 操作できます。
• グラフィックプリビュー表示によりグラフィックブラウザとして使用することができます。
• Finderや他のアプリケーションとの間で直接ドラッグ & ドロップでファイル操作できます。
• フォルダナビゲーション機能により、ドラッグ & ドロップ操作中でも任意の位置に移動できます。（MacOS 9 Finderの spring loaded folder機能に相当）
• バックグラウンド状態からのドラッグ & ドロップに対応していますので、操作時ウインドウが邪魔になることが避けられます。
• 頻繁にアクセスするファイルをフェイバリットウインドウに登録できます。フェイバリットウインドウをアプリケーションランチャ / スクリプトランチャとして使うこともできます。
• Unicodeファイル名に対応、255文字までの長いファイル名が使えます。
• Appleのずさんな設計により MacOS Xに欠けているファイルラベル表示 / 設定機能をサポートしています。

What is Coela 

• This is a file system browser for displaying a column list.It is read as "Shiira".
• There is Greg's Browser as a browser for column list display, but this is an old application, so it is only a simplified icon display, and it does not use the function of HFS+ such as Unicode file name at all.On macOS X, it only works in the Classic environment. I made it myself because I needed a file manipulation application that supports HFS+ and runs on macOS X.

Features of Coela

• You can browse / manipulate the file system in the column list display lightly.
• It can be used as a graphic browser by displaying the graphic preview.
• You can drag and drop files directly to and from Finder or other applications.
• The folder navigation feature allows you to move to any position even during drag-and-drop operations.(Equivalent to the spring loaded folder feature in macOS 9 Finder)
• Since it supports drag and drop from the background state, the window can be avoided from getting in the way during operation.
• You can register frequently accessed files in the Favorite window. You can also use the Favorite Window as an application launcher / script launcher.
• Supports Unicode file names and can be up to 255 characters long. It supports file label display/setting features that are missing from macOS X due to Apple's sloppy design.
