What is FirePower 1.5.2?

Because screen savers run all the time, non-Power Macintosh native screen savers running on Power Macs slow the system down--by up to 15 percent.  That's why FirePower was designed.  It's a fat binary, so it runs in native mode on Power Macs, and it was optimized to use as little memory and processor time as possible--so you still enjoy the speed that's the reason you bought a Power Mac in the first place, while protecting your monitor from image burn-in.  Of course, FirePower works fine on 680x0-based Macs, too, but you'll probably want to reduce the number of fireworks to speed it up.

FirePower is an application, not a control panel or system extension.  This means that it won't cause conflicts at start-up time, and that if you're tight on memory, you can just quit FirePower to reclaim the memory it uses.  To install FirePower, just place it in your Startup Items folder.  It will load itself into the background, and remain there--unobstusively--until you activate it or until a time period you specify passes.

When your Mac is idle for the specified period of time, FirePower elegantly fades all monitors and then fills your screen (or all screens, if you have more than one) with multiple beautiful, realistic fireworks in full color.  Several options are provided to allow you to customize the display.  If you like, you can specify a password that users must enter in order to regain access to the system.
