First release of iDVD and one of the only 2 versions that work under Mac OS 9. Subsequent releases starting from iDVD 3.0 were included with iLife, which is a Mac OS X only software bundle.
iDVD is a small (and basic) application that enables users to very easily and quickly create video DVD projects out of their multimedia files (movies, pictures, music). The software also can burn the project onto a real DVD-R afterwards.
From ReadMe file:
iDVD is an application that lets you design and create your own DVD discs.
Start with the movies you created with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or any other application that exports QuickTime. Then use iDVD and its built-in themes to design the menus and buttons you'll use to access the movies on the DVD disc. You can even use iDVD to create a DVD slideshow from your digital pictures or other still images.
Once your DVD disc has been designed, iDVD creates the disc using a DVD-R drive (a drive that writes DVD video discs) in your Power Mac G4 computer. The result is a DVD disc that works in most consumer DVD players and computers with DVD drives.
