What is DragThing?

DragThing is an application launcher, dock, and switcher. Several of the features that first appeared in DragThing eventually were added to the Mac OS, such as the Alt-Tab switching between applications. DragThing continued to be developed well into the Mac OS X era.

Trivia: The author was hired by Apple to work on the original Dock in Mac OS X.

If you’ve ever seen OpenStep, you’B note that all running applications get their own icon on the bottom of the screen. The application DragThing does much the same for the Mac OS, and yet it does so much more. DragThing creates floating docks that can hold applications, documents, folders, and even URLs — if you have InternetConfig installed. DragThing’s docks (which resembles a tool palette) have three tabs on them, and you can have more than one dock open at a time. DragThing also has a process window, which shows an icon for each currently running application.
