What is Icon Archiver?

Icon Archiver is an icon database to store all your favorite icons instead of copy/pasting them onto empty folders, which, when you have hundreds of them on a disk, slows down the Finder a lot, especially on CD's.

Icon Archiver then lets you save the database to a file and later you can open it, add more and/or drag and drop individual icons out of it onto your desktop in various formats.  It even supports exporting the icons database each icon to a transparent PNG image file, which makes the icons transition to modern technology extremely convenient (as opposed to unsupported older icons format or PICT image format, etc...)

One super neat feature is that it is extremely fast at automatically importing tons of icons from a hierarchy of folders full of apps and files.  You could literally just drag and drop a CD volume (or your games folder) on it and it would import every single icon from every file on that drive or in that folder.  Make sure to pre-allocate maybe 3MB of RAM to this app before doing this tough!

The Icon Archiver is an extremely powerful database specifically designed for easy icon storage and retrieval. It can quickly scan whole disks or folders and grab all the icons they contain, including those you won’t ever see in the Finder and all icon archives created by other icon utilities. It can easily export them in most graphics formats, including the ones you need for your web pages. Drag & Drop is fully supported, so you can create or stick custom icons by simply dragging them around. All icons are compressed on the fly to save memory and disk space, and archives can contain a very large number of icons (unlike all other icon  utilities which are limited to a few hundreds). Advanced features include removing duplicate icons, sorting them by shape, filtering them by size or color depth, and viewing them in many different ways. The Archiver includes native PowerPC code and its icon handling routines are highly optimized for maximum speed.
