What is Overdrive 1.0 Public Beta? When developing LeopardAssist, GenThree found themselves working with 10 to 15 test machines running 160gb drives. Due to 28-bit addressing drives larger than 128GB couldn't be addressed. Not be confused with USB overdrive, "Overdrive" allows 48-bit addressing to be enabled/disabled allowing ATA drives that in theory could be up to 144 Petabytes in size. The practical application is of course to allow for installation of drives that are over 128GB. The application also provides a built in partitioning guide and other step-by-step guides to help with the installation of a new hard drive. This app is of use if you want to install ATA drives that are over 128GB into G3/G4 Macs lacking LBA-48 support.
