What is SCSIProbe?

SCSIProbe doesn’t do much — it isn’t even Internet-ready — but what it does do is done exquisitely well. This control panel examines your SCSI bus and lists in its window any devices that it finds. You can then either mount SCSI devices or reset the SCSI bus if a device doesn’t seem to respond properly. SGSIProbe also closes device drivers for removable media after that media has been ejected. This can save major headaches for anyone who uses removable media initialized with different formatting utilities. But best of all, by clicking on a drive’s number in SCSIProbe’s window, SGSIProbe attempts to light the LED on the front of the drive — which lets you quickly identify which SCSI device is at which address.
