An application that enables you to write, edit, and lay out articles in a multicolumn format. You use the mouse to arrange text and MacPaint graphics on a miniature version of an 8 1/2- by 11-inch page. MacPublisher keeps track of the total number of lines and characters in each section of text in your layout. You can format text in one-third-, one-half-, or two-thirds-page columns or set your own column widths. MacPublisher allows you to mix column formats on a page and “crop" MacPaint pictures to fit across any number of columns. Text can be centered or left, right, or full justified and can be typed in a variety of fonts, including commercially available fonts that you can load with the Font Mover.
MacPublisher's editing techniques are similar to those of MacWrite, but MacPublisher also includes a vertical ruler with measurements in inches, centimeters, pixels, or lines of text; a scissors pointer that lets you clip a column of text into fragments; condensed or wide-pitch text; and variable leading. Unlike MacWrite, MacPublisher lets you place text and graphics on the same line.
