What is Classilla?

Classilla is literally the best (and most up to date) web browser that can be used under Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x.  Classilla is also open source and thus, free.  It was derived from Mozilla Internet Suite, which itself emerged from Netscape Communicator's tweaked source code back in the day.

Nowadays, Classilla is the only web browser for Classic Mac OS still allowing you to visit websites in an almost correct fashion.  Since PowerPC systems are so old and slow, there is no way fancy HTML5, CSS3, ES6 Javascript or newer SSL encryption versions will ever work, let alone WebGL 3D websites, purely from a hardware limitation factor, but it is still the best option to browse websites on a Mac OS 8.6 or Mac OS 9.x system at the verge of 2020.

Classilla is an abandoned project since 2021 and no other release is planned.

Compatibility notes

Architecture: PPC (100mhz or faster recommended)

At least 64MB of RAM

Mac OS 8.6 - Mac OS 9.2.2

Note: It is recommended that you run Classilla on systems with at least 128MB of memory or more (combined between your physical and virtual memory) and allow Classilla as close to its maximum preferred allocation as you can.  If your Mac doesn't have at least 128MB of RAM, then you can enable and increase Virtual Memory under Control Panels > Memory.
