Resource Remover deletes the resource fork from Macintosh files. This is useful to move files on platforms different from the Mac. Moving a 'cross platform' file from Mac to other platform can cause trouble because others platform doesn't understand 'resource' and try to read them as they where data. It's also useful for web files stored on server to save disk space considering web server doesn't use the resource fork of files. Removing the resource fork of files before putting them on a web server results in a hard disk space saving, ad a short upload time if you send using binary mode. Also stocking the files for backup purpose, if your web editor can re-build the page info from the text, is convenient using 'resource fork free' files. Removing the resource fork from TEXT , GIF , JPEG... and others can really save lot of disk space (up to 50 % and more in some cases).
Resource Remover is very easy to use. Drag-and-drop files you want to prepare for the web on the Resource Remover icon and you have finished. You can also drag-and-drop a folder to process all files contained in it at any deep level! Easy and fast to use. Resource Remover can be customized using the Preference dialogs.
To increase safety of use you can use the 'Filter' option to perform a 'File Type Check' Selecting this option if a file dragged on top of the Resource Remover icon is not of the file types specified in the 'filter preference', the file will be leaved unchanged. This really increases a lot the safety of use of Resource Remover. That's all. You can start to work. Simply drag-and-drop files over the Resource Remover icon. The program is very small, it takes only few Kb on your HD, and uses also a very small RAM partition to run.
