What is DART?

DART (Disk Archive/Retrieval Tool) was an internal to Apple and Developers only, disk archiving software. Like Disk Copy 4.2, DART can create byte for byte disk images of floppy disk media. It also uses compression enabling much smaller file sizes.
Unlike Disk Copy 4.2, DART was never licensed for public distribution and remained largely unknown outside of Apple circles.
