From Mac OS 10.2 up to Mac OS 10.9 Warning: a bug in this v1.0.0 concerns buffer overflow or underflow. Recording to any SATA drive is causing my system to drop "chunks" of recorded audio, whereas recording to a slower device (attached via USB2) is good! Extensive testing shows about 50 percent of my around 5 minutes each SATA recordings end up missing at least one chunk, and it's VERY difficult to detect that a chunk is missing just by "proof listening" the new file. Instead, when I have access to the original, I can compare song lengths to discover the errors. The smallest possible missing chunk seems to be about 0.33 to 0.4 seconds long (using highest sound details). Be mindful of this. Also, using WireTap's built in compression ability is bad (testing AIFF 4:1 and others). Sound becomes distorted to a varying degree, from barely detectable all the way to introducing a buzzing noise in the destination file. Something like a cumulative rounding error producing a resonance. Recommending NONE compression setting.
