Compatibility with previous versions of Apple Remote Desktop Apple Remote Desktop 3 will allow you to add Apple Remote Desktop version 2.x clients to your computer lists and will automatically assist you in upgrading them to the current version of the client software. If you choose not to upgrade your clients to the current version, you will have limited backwards compatibility and will only be able to control/observe computers running version 2.x of the client software. Enabling Apple Remote Desktop On Mac OS X v10.3 or later Client Computers In the Sharing section of System Preferences, select the “Apple Remote Desktop” service and click Start.
