What is Apple Service Source Companion 2000?

Service Source 3.0 Read Me
February 2000

Welcome to Service Source 3.0
Welcome to version 3.0 of the main Service Source CD. With this new release we are migrating Service Source CD to a HTML-based platform. Service Source 3.0 has the following significant changes:

• Service Source 3.0 startup document is in HTML format. The file creator type is Internet Explorer 4.5, and we recommend using IE 4.5.1 as your default browser when using Service Source 3.0. For more information read "System Requirements" below.

• Service Source 3.0 startup file replicates Service Source Online. You now can use the same interface to access Service Source technical content—whether you're referencing Service Source CD or going online for the very latest versions. Note: The Service Source 3.0 startup screen (home page) is nearly identical to the Troubleshoot and Repair page at http://service.info.apple.com/diagnosing.html.

• Four service manuals are now available in PDF and HTML formats. These HTML manuals are under construction and we would appreciate your feedback regarding their usability. You can access the HTML manuals by selecting "See an service manual" from the iMac, PowerBook, G3/G4, or Displays product pages.

Note: Acrobat Reader and the PDFViewer Web browser plug-in are still required to open most service manuals and other technical documents (such as the Memory Guide) that are in PDF format on this CD, and also to open the obsolete and vintage PDF manuals archived on the Companion CD. Refer to "Installing and Using Acrobat 4.0" below for more information.
