What is DirectConnect?

DirectConnect is a DigiRack plug-in that is installed automatically with the Pro Tools software.

Compatibility notes

To use DirectConnect you will need a:

  • Pro Tools MIX or MIXplus System
  • DAE/DigiSystem INIT 5.0 or higher
  • Pro Tools 5.0 or later on the Macintosh
  • Third party client software compatible with DirectConnect, such as Tokyo from Koblo, Retro AS-1 and Unity DS-1 from Bitheadz, Reaktor from Native Instru- ments, and Alkali from Gallery.

Requires Mac OS X.2+

DirectConnect System Requirements:

Pro Tools LE

Pro Tools LE v5.0.1 or higher software for Macintosh (will not run on Pro Tools LE 5.0)

Mac OS-based Pro Tools LE system (Audiomedia III, ToolBox XP, Digi 001 hardware)

Mac OS-based Pro Tools FREE system

DirectConnect compatible application (see list below)

Pro Tools TDM

Pro Tools v5.0.1 or higher software for Macintosh

Mac OS-based Pro Tools|HD system

Mac OS-based Pro Tools|24 MIX system
(original Pro Tools|24 allows using DirectConnect as part of the new "RTAS on disk tracks" feature in Pro Tools v5.1 or higher only)

DirectConnect requires one free SRAM chip on a MIX system
(there are 3 SRAM chips on each MIX card.)
