What is Cycles?

Cycles is an application that tracks your CPU load and also sets background images on your desktop. The animated Cycles icon in the Mac OS X dock shows you the current and average CPU load as well as the portions of the CPU that are used by the system and user applications. The CPU load display is updated in intervals that you specify in the preferences. You can also set the number of intervals that you want Cycles to show in the dock icon. If you have more than one processor, you can choose to display the sum of all CPU loads or to display each CPU load separately.

In addition to displaying CPU load, Cycles can also set desktop images. You can either set one static image, tiled or not, or set up a list of folders and image files that Cycles chooses from at random. You specify in minutes how often you want Cycles to display a new random image. You can also display a logo on your desktop, which appears on top of any background image.

The dock menu lets you:

• See the name and path of the file that is currently displayed
• Freeze the randomizing process with the current image
• Cycle immediately to the next random image
• Hide all applications so that only the background is visible
